Mythical Creatures invade Style

Danni completed her NVQ level 3 in Hairdressing with her final exam being a photoshoot in which she choose, design and completed the looks. Check out her blog below to find out where she got her inspiration from and how she came up with such incredible ideas…..

I chose mythical creatures as my theme for my photoshoot because I wanted a broad topic so I could be creative and show a contrast between each model. It allowed me to think outside the box and use my imagination. I wanted a mixture of dark and light to support different emotions through each hair up. I firstly analysed what I wanted to create and completed a mood board. I then went on to decide I needed three models who all had long thick hair to give me the freedom to create texture and density. As I wanted one model to use coloured hair extensions (red, orange and green) on I felt that a brunette hair base would show the dramatic contrast of colours. My highlight for my NVQ level 3 was definitely my photoshoot as it was great fun and has given me some different ways to work with hair in the future. I enjoyed the planning, prepping and the day itself. Having a photographer and make up artist on board made the day feel professional, exciting and I am thrilled with the images we created.

Looking back over the last year I have loved every part of my training, it has pushed me to the next level and I have transformed clients by creating different cuts and colours as well as looks that you wouldn’t get to achieve day to day in the salon. I have grown my confidence in creating restyles, creative colour, transforming new clients and colour correction.

My plans for the future are to continue my hairdressing education with more courses but I would also like to pass on my knowledge having been a student recently to now teaching one on one with our apprentices and Saturday staff.

Having enjoyed my photoshoot so much it has now planted the seed of photographic work or stage work later on in my career.

Hope you like the results!  Danni

Many thanks to the models, photographer and make-up artist who helped create these looks.
